The genius

LEONARDO DA VINCI (1452-1519) was a supreme example of a Renaissance genius who possessed one of the greatest minds ever. he was a painter, sculptor, architect, and engineer. In short, he had a mind extraordinaire. He realized that objects were defined by the shadow and light rather than outlines. his technique gave his paintings a lifelike quality as he used color to create a soft atmosphere and depth. His most famous painting is undoubtedly "La Giaconda" or "Mona Lisa". People say that when you stand before the painting and then move, her eyes seem to follow you.
Da Vinci believed that besides the rules of perspective, an artist must know the laws of nature so to improve his artwork. He turned to science to study anatomy and nature, making him the first artist to study the physical proportions of the people. His wide interest led him to make groundbreaking contributions in fields as diverse as anatomy, meteorology, geology, hydraulics, aerodynamics and traffic control.
Leonardo spent most of his life in the court of the Duke of Milan and in Florence, with the last few years spent in the court of King Francis I of France. Interestingly, the church where he was buried was devastated during the French Revolution and so his grave can no longer be found.
Though no one knows the exact reason, Leonardo Da Vinci used to write his notes in "Mirror-writing", that is, from right to left. Only when he was writing to other people did he write in normal direction.
